Looking upon Death: Art at the Deathbed

About This Chat

We’ll discuss three works of deathbed portraiture and reflect on our experiences with death and dying as loved ones, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. This chat was curated by Dr. Kamna Balhara, an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, assistant program director of the Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and Co-Director of Health Humanities at Hopkins Emergency Medicine (@HealthHumJHEM). We’ll be joined by Dr. Margaret Chisolm, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Johns Hopkins, who is dedicated to including arts and humanities in medical education.
